Sleepwalking Through your life? Here is how mindfulness can help
Have you ever sat down to watch television with a bowl of popcorn on her lap, and suddenly realized twenty minutes later, the dish was empty? Have you ever driven somewhere and arrived safely, only to realize that you really do not remember the trip?
These types of experiences happen to everyone. Today, many of us refer to this activity as meaningless as "being on autopilot. "Many daily habits can be completed without all of our attention. It seems that our minds are constantly running ahead to the next activity to complete, the next call or meeting, or rather we should be.
Everything is multi-tasking, however, is taking its toll on our lives. A little lack of attention from time to time is not necessarily a bad thing. But sleepwalking through life, always rushing off to something else and not really living "in the moment, "can come at high cost. Relationships with family, friends and colleagues will eventually suffer. We miss out on special moments that occur every day. Ignore important messages about our health, our wellbeing and our lives. Our bodies and minds to stay in a perpetual state of stress and self-criticism not have been better "to do" more "and be" successful. "
If multitasking is the disease, then mindfulness is the cure. Mindfulness is the practice of paying more attention to ourselves and the world around us, to achieve an awareness of what is happening within our minds and bodies, and outside, at the same time. We all have the ability to practice mindfulness. It is a simple matter to establish a new habit of paying attention not you have to do tomorrow or ten minutes from now, but now, this minute. Or, as some describe it, to be simply "here" as life unfolds before us.
Once you are able to understand and grasp the spirit of mindfulness, is the "do" to help us be more informed, responsible and healthy body, mind and soul. Every minute of every day takes on new meaning, and its ability to embrace life and find much-needed emotional and balance becomes physical effort. While mindfulness can force us to confront painful issues buried, most people are happy to remove burdens old and embrace the future with renewed enthusiasm for life after learning how to apply mindfulness in your daily life.
