Principles of Leadership in a Changing Workplace

Change in the workplace is accelerating. Technological development and the infusion of new products is almost a daily occurrence. Companies are in endless pursuit for lower costs to become more competitive. Rightsizing, downsizing, reorganization with layoffs are the norm. Changes driven by Six Sigma and continuous improvement are common events. Pressures of global competition requires new thinking, radical reallocations and new forms of doing business.

The workplace is full of the excitement of change and many people question the value of these changes. In this article I will examine the place changing workplace, leadership principles, and present a call to action.

The new workplace

Change is and has been a universal constant. The Civilizations have risen and fallen. The American Wild West was tamed and populated. The Model T was mass produced and made an affordable means of transport. Refrigerators were invented icebox and became history. The men traveled to the moon and back. Computers and the Internet made the world.

Moore's law promises even greater leaps changes in productivity, quality of life, and unimaginable.

Humans are well adapted to the change in the long term. The short term is another story.

Many people exercise a measure of effort and work to achieve a state, goal, or result in life. When they arrive, they have the belief that they have earned their way and now life owes them. Often they feel comfortable, content, relaxed, satisfied, and stagnation.

At the same time, changes occur around slowly making their abilities, skills and values obsolete.

Others accept the change, the race to be in front of the wave of innovation, finding new energy and opportunities in their working environment.

He described two different types of people. A person resting on his laurels without worrying about the change. The other person provides leadership, effective staff to adapt to change.

Leadership Principles

The principles are general and fundamental laws or rules. Investigate the principles of leadership found the Marine Corps has listed 11. Other organizations had similar lists.

Review and organization, I discovered that the principles of effective leadership in the changing world are actually immutable. Are constants of the universe as well as change. People have been exercising effective leadership principles in a new place of work since the dawn of time. These are the timeless leadership principles I have identified.

Life Vision

Human beings are endowed with unlimited potential and greatness. They limit their development, what they like, and the success achieved by what they learn and how they think about work and life.

Ignorance is the enemy of developing people and enjoy greater success. The destruction of ignorance is called personal development, personal growth, personal leadership development, or development of the mastery of his work and life.

This requires self-knowledge, seeking wisdom, and the formation of a vision of what can be. That vision is essential to break free from the routines of work and life that many people cheat. That vision must include the change.

Guiding Values

When you do not know what you value, then anything that comes along and catches the eye that deviates from their vision.

List all things that are important to you. I bet there up to 100 or more. Do not worry, I had the same problem. Organization to be one of my strengths and for several years of work, I finally found three core values to guide my work and life. They are:

Integrity – To maintain all the commitments you make, even those who makes himself. Be honest, honorable, truthful, self-disclosure, reliable and authentic.

Stewardship – To be responsible and accountable all the resources to manage, respond, and develop and grow as a person. Manage your money, time, attitude, and people in your life to achieve the best results. Exercise courage and risk where it counts.

Love – Love is the greatest power in the universe. Love, accept and care for yourself first. This gives love, serve and share with their fellow human beings. This means extending unconditional respect, dignity and fairness for all. It's about having gratitude, appreciation and respect for all the work and your life.

Purpose

Each person comes into this world to fulfill a specific purpose. That purpose is unique and essential for the proper functioning and the evolution of the earth. Find your sole purpose is essential to work with their natural gifts and skills. If you discover your purpose, your work and life will become perfect and easy. His life was filled with more joy and happiness.

Mission

What does the work and life is called its mission. You fill certain roles as the husband or wife, father or mother, the provider for his family, a housewife, business leader or manager. In each function provide specific services. Looking over all services, some common themes arise. Their mission may also include the quality of their services as the level "excellence."

Call to Action

If you are clear about the vision of your life, then you will be learning, growing and seeking greater wisdom. To carry out your vision, you develop more of their unlimited potential and greatness and serve your fellow man more effectively.

Identify and understand their guiding values helps you stay on track during your trip. Without clear values that will wander aimlessly and go "anywhere." Contact its purpose given the big "why it exists."

Knowing that, his trip has great value and can be filled with enthusiasm and passion. Be clear about your work and life roles, the services you provide, and the rules of their work, do your work and life meaningful and important to you and others.

Embracing leadership principles will equip you to adapt and even embrace the changes that are always present in the workplace. Without this strong foundation of personal leadership, change becomes an obstacle to creating the life you were meant to live.

The development of personal leadership skills and competencies to climb to assure wave of change and opportunity. Embracing change, thrive on it, and grows as a person is to ensure a workplace exciting life full of success, happiness and happiness.

How are you doing? Evaluate yourself in these areas. If you find that there is a need for change, you have a choice. Stay day the way you are or find a way to develop more effective personal leadership and living the life you were meant to live.

The choice is yours.
